Presidential and State Primaries Scheduling

Consolidated Primaries: No

On a Presidential Election year, presidential caucuses and State primaries are scheduled to run on different dates

Both the Republican and the Democratic parties hold Open caucus to select their nominee for the November General Election.

Voting In Primaries

  • Any voter - regardless of party registration - may vote in the primary of either major party (but not both!): Democrats may, if they wish, pass up their own party's primary to vote in the Republican primary, while Republicans may choose to pass up their own party's primary to vote in the Democratic primary; Independents may vote in either major party's primary.

Presidential Primary Delegates

American Samoa, like other U.S. Territories, allocates delegates to the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. Delegates play a crucial role in nominating the party's candidate for the presidential election
